Therapy Services Specialized For:

Personal Challenges

Therapy can be a place you learn more about yourself, your needs, and tools that can help you navigate life. Maybe you:

  • Have difficulty shutting off your mind, feeling tense, and frequently go to the worse case scenario thinking?

  • Feel stuck, lost, lonely, and unsure of your life path?

  • Care too much about what people think that it’s holding you back in life?

  • Are overly critical of yourself?

  • Struggle with believing in yourself and think yourself out of things?

Our personality, upbringing, experiences, genetics, values, interests, temperment & so much more affect who we are and how we experience the world. Therapy can be a place you discover your strengths, needs, and tools to help foster change you want on your terms.

Therapy can be helpful in understanding and navigating some of the following:

  • Self-Esteem

  • Anxiety

  • Burnout

  • Shame

  • Emotional Trauma/Abuse

  • Relationship Difficulties

  • Stress

  • Overwhelm

  • Perfectionism

  • Life Transition Difficulties

  • Grief

The Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)

About 20-30% of people:

  • Feel emotions intensely & are very attuned to the emotions of others

  • Think deeply and often about many things

  • Feel overwhelmed easily when there’s a lot going on and can get irritated quickly

  • Are greatly effected by the environment and people around us

  • Need more time to process, rest, & have time to ourselves

  • Struggle with change and having to make decisions quickly

We can feel better if we give ourselves the time to process our experiences, work through emotions, and have that needed downtime, and it can also have a beneficial effect in our relationships and work life.

Situational Stress & Trauma

There are a lot of things in life we cannot control and may still harbor pain from past experiences. These experiences can change us in ways that we may not realize, and it can be helpful to process, heal, and learn tools to improve our wellbeing. Maybe you:

  • Are you going through a difficult life change/transition?

  • Experienced or are currently experiencing emotional abuse?

  • Experienced very challenging situations?

  • Are struggling currently because of challenging past relationships and life experiences?

  • Are emotionally and mentally exhausted, experiencing burnout?

Situations and past experiences can feel defining, like they get to label who you are, what you are, and what you are not. We can have difficulty processing these experiences on our own, and there are ways we can heal ourselves and see things more fairly. Being human is hard, and we are not always prepared for the unexpected.

Interpersonal stress

We are wired for connection and can experience incredible pain when feeling alone and misunderstood. Relationships are very complex - maybe that’s why so many books, TV shows, and movies center around them. Trying to balance our own personalities, temperament, beliefs, values, and behavior can be difficult to understand let alone trying to understand another person who may have different traits, upbringing, culture, and history. What can complicate things even more is when we feel misunderstood by our loved ones, family, friends, or people we spend a lot of time with such as co-workers, classmates, and supervisors.

Having a therapist help support you through these relational challenges can be really helpful; talking to someone who is separate from the situation can help you process and reflect on events, release and understand suppressed (unintentionally locked down emotion) or repressed (intentionally dismissed) emotion, gain insight into your own behavior, and discover ways to connect to what you need and effectively communicate them.

Sometimes we don’t even know why we react so strongly to certain things or what drives certain behavior and that’s ok - a lot of how we function is automatic. As humans, we tend to feel first and think later. Therapy can be a safe place to understand some of the unseen mechanisms of the mind and find ways to connect more with yourself that may help you improve your connection with others.
